Professor David J. Handelsman

A leading international authority on androgen physiology, pharmacology, and toxicology, he is Australia’s first Professor of Andrology and founded its only hospital Andrology department. His discovery, clinical and public health research has produced >700 peer-reviewed papers with >38,000 citations (h index 107) making him the top cited author world-wide on androgens and testosterone and contributed multiple chapters in top Endocrinology textbooks. He serves as anti-doping science consultant to World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and on gender eligibility regulations for multiple international sporting federations. Peer recognition includes RACP’s Susman Prize (1994), Life Member of Endocrine Society of Australia (2008); Society for Reproductive Biology (2015); Royal Australasian College of Physicians (2020); Elected Fellow, Australian Academy of Health & Medical Science (2015) & Order of Australia (AO, 2018).
