Professor Andrea Marshall

image of andrea marshallAndrea Marshall (RN, Ph.D. MRCNA) is currently Professor of Acute and Complex Care Nursing at Griffith University and the Gold Coast Hospital. Andrea has over 20 years of experience in a variety of surgical & medical critical care areas. Andrea has a strong interest in providing respiratory support to critically ill patients and has been teaching mechanical ventilation in the clinical setting and at a postgraduate level for over 15 years. She has a strong interest in critical care research particularly in the areas of enteral nutrition, evidence based decision-making, and translating knowledge into critical care practice.

Andrea is a 2012 NHMRC TRIP (Translating Research into Practice) Fellow and in this fellowship, is exploring how families of critically ill patients might advocate for best nutrition practice. Andrea has contributed to numerous critical care texts, including ACCCN’s Critical Care Nursing and AACN Advanced Critical Care, writing specifically in the area of the gut in critical illness and nutrition support. She is currently an Associate Editor of the Australian Critical Care Journal and Deputy Chair of the Research Advisory Panel of the Australian College of Critical Care Nurses.
